Foruminvest leases Ahoy hotel (250 rooms) to HR Group for ibis Styles
Rotterdam Ahoy has long wanted a hotel next to its events venue, and even more so since last year’s opening of the Rotterdam Ahoy Convention Centre. Both (international) business events and large-scale concerts and other leisure events create heavy demand for overnight stays.
Ruslan Husry, founder and CEO of HR Group: "I am delighted to start the partnership with Foruminvest with such a promising project. With Accor's ibis Styles concept, we offer a product tailored for the needs of this fantastic location. Further, we drive forward the expansion of the HR Group and in addition extend our presence on the Dutch market."
Aerjen Koeneman, Foruminvest Managing Director: “Foruminvest has been developing the Ahoy hotel over the past period and we now have an irrevocable building permit. The lease with HR Group means we now have a strong and expert hotel operator attached to the project. Together we will realise the latest ibis Styles formula, with an attractive restaurant formula that will be an excellent fit with the combination of business and leisure overnight stays. Foruminvest currently has a number of three to five-star hotel developments in the Netherlands and abroad. And we are actively looking to expand this development portfolio.”
Rudolph Schöningh, Director Development Netherlands at Accor: “We are extremely pleased with the addition of ibis Styles Rotterdam Ahoy to our franchise partnership with the HR Group. This new signing is another boost to our position in the economy segment of the Dutch hotel market. The development of an Ibis Styles hotel at this location is an excellent fit, thanks to the wide range of target group segments, including Ahoy itself, the hinterland to the port and individual business and tourist guests. There are currently more than 550 ibis Styles hotels, which are a part of the ibis family, with more than 1,500 hotels worldwide.”
Construction on the hotel is set to start in April of this year and delivery is expected shortly after the summer of 2023.
