HR Group acquires Berlin hotel icon Sheraton Berlin Grand Hotel Esplanade
The latest property in the portfolio of the multi-brand hotel operator HR Group is the Sheraton Berlin Grand Hotel Esplanade. The Berlin HR Group is thus successively advancing its expansion. The hotel will continue to be managed under the Sheraton brand in the future. All employees as well as the management will be taken over by the HR Group with the transfer of operations from 31 March 2022.
"We are very proud to have the Sheraton Berlin Grand Hotel Esplanade, a hotel of such distinction, in our portfolio," says Markus Lewe CEO Lodging Division and Managing Director of HR Group. "I am particularly looking forward to working with General Manager Silke Spieske and her top-class team, all of whom are an asset to the company."
The deal marks the first time HR Group has signed a cooperation agreement with Marriott International as a franchise partner. "We are sure this is the beginning of a long-term and expandable business relationship," Markus Lewe continues.
The five-star Sheraton Berlin Grand Hotel Esplanade has a total of 394 rooms and suites and is located in the Berlin Mitte district, close to the embassy quarter and opposite the Bauhaus Archive Museum. Deutsche Finance International, together with its partner Cells Group, recently became the owner of the property. Further details on the new utilisation concept already communicated by the owner and the corresponding transformation will be announced at a later date.
The addition of the Sheraton Berlin Grand Hotel Esplanade to the HR Group portfolio marks the 80th hotel and project of the expansion-driven hotel operator, represented at over 50 locations in six European countries. In the Berlin hotel market alone, the company is operational with the Pullman Schweizerhof Berlin, the Mövenpick Hotel Berlin, the Mercure Hotel Berlin City West and the Vienna House Easy Berlin. Another project at Berlin's Gleisdreieck is currently under construction.
